The Weatherby Orion Compact is a 12 gauge over-and-under scaled for smaller shooters, with a 13.5-inch length of pull, 44.3 inches overall and a weight of 7.5 pounds. Its 30-inch vent rib barrels are chrome lined with 3-inch chambers, a brass bead front sight and a multi-choke system, and the walnut stock uses a Prince of Wales grip. The metal is finished blue/black, the safety is manual, and capacity is the two shells in the barrels.

A shorter stock on full-length 30-inch barrels is a specific recipe: it fits a youth or a shorter adult without giving up the swing a longer barrel brings to clays. In Connecticut it suits a family where one gun has to serve a junior trap shooter now and stay useful as that shooter grows, and the multi-choke system lets the same barrels tighten up for longer targets. The 7.5-pound weight keeps recoil from 3-inch loads in check.
