The Viper G2 Sporting Youth is TriStar's 20 gauge gas-operated semi-automatic sized for smaller shooters: a 13-inch length of pull, 44 inches overall and 6.6 pounds. The 26-inch chrome-lined vent-rib barrel has a 3-inch chamber, a matted sight plane and a fiber optic front sight, and the five-round tubular magazine comes with a shot plug for hunting configurations. Beretta Mobilchoke tubes in Improved Cylinder, Modified and Full are included, the stock and forend are black synthetic with Soft Touch texture, and the receiver is anodized red.

In Connecticut this is the gun a young shooter grows into. A 20 gauge is one of the three gauges named for private-land deer with single-projectile loads from November 18 to December 8, and shotguns are allowed on state land over the same dates, so the Viper can go from youth clays to a first deer season without being replaced. The short stock and gas action keep recoil manageable, and the shot plug sets the magazine for hunting rules.
