1858 Remington Conversion Features This Remington Conversion is a perfect reproduction from the historic period when popular black powder revolvers were being converted into cartridge revolvers. Although manufactured as a an already converted cartridge revolver now by Uberti, these copies still feature an easy transition from blackpowder to centerfire cartridges on the .45LC caliber models. The Remington Conversion in .45LC allows a shooter to switch from .45LC to .44 black powder by removing the breech plate, cartridge cylinder, and replacing them both with a spare black powder cylinder (available as a spare part from Taylor’s A1014005). Along with the original conversion design, these revolvers retain other original features: the forged frames are dovetailed to allow the loading gate assembly to slide into place and a modern ejector rod incorporated into the original black powder loading lever with a small notch cut into the loading lever itself. The revolvers are available with a two-piece walnut grip, octagonal barrel, blued finish, and brass triggerguard. 1858 Remington Conversion Specifications Barrel Length: 7-3/8 Inch Octagonal Caliber: .38SP Capacity: 6 Weight: 2.55 lbs Finish: Blue with brass triggerguard Grip/Stock: 2-piece Walnut Sights: Blade Front Overall Length: 13.175 Inches Action Version: Standard Edition
